There is a certain excitement in having no idea what you are looking at... |
EditorialFred Craven, EditorDeveloper Blake Mitchell was recently asked to do something "simple"—get an OMNI 3200 to print a bar code. Well… it turned out that it wasn't quite as simple as one might think. As I read through his article it reminded me about when I learned HTML, or German, or Russian, or even how to read that stuff called music. No matter how much it may or may not make sense, there is a certain excitement in having no idea what you are looking at, and then having it all come together. So today, I can distinguish between a half-note and a tag, and Blake can tell you not only the way a bar code works, but how he got an OMNI 3200 to print them. Also on the subject of Omni 3200's Dave Randolph offers some code examples which can help expand their usability. And Joe Shead offers up a classic article about some of his problem solving techniques written by a programmer for other programmersÐwhich I (a non-programmer) can only begin to understand.♦ |
