Hello, my name is Fred and
I am not a programmer
Fred Craven, Editor
Perhaps the title of this editorial is a little obvious, perhaps
not, but the truth of those words is more evident to me after working on this newsletter. With this issue of TechTopics, not only did we change colors, and the way we mail it, but we asked Leonard James to write a couple of things. Normally this would not be a problem, but give a programmer a kb, and he will take a GB.
In this issue, Blake Mitchell offers up some thoughts
on one of the great lost tools of development: the prototype. It sounds like
he had a fun time at his meeting.
Next, we've had a lot of questions at Prairie Trail Software about moving terminal applications from an Omni 3200 to an Omni 3300. In fact,we have had so many questions that Dave and Leonard teamed up to write an article about why you can't do that. From my non-programmer perspective, it's kind of like moving an application from a PC to a Mac, but I will let the experts handle that.
Finally Leonard offers up a rather technical article on programming for the Omni 3300. This was supposed to be a short article, that came out more detailed than we expected. But it's a good article. Of course, it is not a complete set of instructions, but it should give other programmers some insight into how the 3300 works—not being a programmer, I can't tell.
As always feel free to pass our newsletter along to your friends and co-workers,
